To import .SQL files directly in to MySQL follow the steps below:
1. If the .SQL file is compressed (for example as .sql.gz) extract the archive so you are left with just the .sql file.
2. Using FTP, upload the file into a folder called app_data in your web site root directory. (for example, domain.name/home/app_data)
3. From hostControl, go to Databases, select the MySQL database and click the Restore Database button.
4. Follow the instructions to select the backup from the app_data folder and restore the import to the database.
Note: Depending on how the .SQL file was originally exported the file may remove any existing data when importing or update data instead.
