Change SMTP Server - Apple Mac Mail (version 10 and higher)

This guide is for changing an existing email account's SMTP server from your ISP to StudioCoast only. If you need to setup a new Email account with Apple Mac mail please click here.


 Step 1


Open up Mac Mail. Select the "Mail" menu from the top and then select "Preferences".

In the Account window that pops up, ensuring the correct email account is selected on the left sidebar, click the "Server Settings" tab.


 Step 3


In the "Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)" section, click the dropdown menu next to "Account" and select "Edit SMTP Server List".


 Step 4


Next, select the "+" icon to add a new Outgoing Mail Server setting. Below under the Server Settings tab, fill in the following details as per below. Make sure that "Automatically manage connection settings" is unticked. Once completed, select OK.

Description: A description to help you identify the mail server setting
Username: Your username will be the same as your full email address. Eg. yourname@domainname.com.au.
Password: Your Email Account's Password. If you are unsure, visit the "Email Accounts" section of hostControl and click 'Display Passwords'.
Host Name: Your outgoing mail server is the same as your incoming mail server. To find this, please refer to your Account Information by logging into hostControl. Below is an example only.
Port: 26
Use TLS/SSL: Tick this if you would like an encrypted connection when sending email
Authentication: Password


 Step 5


 Once you return back to the Accounts window, make sure the new Outgoing Mail Server has bee selected from the Account dropdown menu, instead of your pevious ISP setting. Press the x in the top left corner to leave the Account window and you can now begin to send emails through our SMTP Server.
