Managing SQL Server 2008 Databases
To manage SQL Server 2008 databases download "SQL Server 2008 Express with Tools":

This software includes SQL Server 2008 Management Studio Basic which is compatible with 2000, 2005 and 2008 databases.
Follow the steps below to just install SQL Server 2008 Management Studio Basic:
1. Open the downloaded installation file.
2. From the left hand menu of the setup program choose "Installation"
3. Select New SQL Server stand-alone installation or add features to an existing installation.
4. Follow the prompts selecting the default options until you reach the "Feature Selection" section.
5. Tick "Management Tools - Basic" and click Next. You can also choose to install the full SQL Server 2008 express edition if you wish to manage your own 2008 databases on your local machine.
6. Go through the rest of the steps to install the application. You may need to uninstall SQL Management Studio 2005 Express if it is already installed.
